This listing is a vintage Japanese uchiwa fan, the style that was commonly used during warm months at festivals, tea gatherings, or everyday life, while also serving as decorative art.

Simple, elegant, and unmistakably Japanese, this traditional uchiwa fan features a bamboo handle and rib structure covered with pleated washi paper. One side is hand-painted with a grapevine motif, showing clusters of grapes with curling tendrils and leaves accented in gold and soft pink tones. Grapes are a classic late-summer motif in Japanese decorative arts, symbolizing abundance and the harvest season.

The reverse side includes handwritten calligraphy, seemingly the name of the artist and perhaps the name of the recipient.

Minor edge wear and light discoloration are present, consistent with age and use.
