We have shortened a women's vintage kimono to create this Japanique Boutique Robe to an easy-to-wear 45 inches. The result is a versatile garment that works beautifully as a robe, layering cover-up, or relaxed tunic. Wear it open for an effortless drape or tied closed for a more traditional kimono silhouette.

A quietly dramatic vintage kimono robe with a refined, atmospheric presence. The silk features a rich purple-plum background softly speckled with resist-dyed lilac flecks. We suspect that it was wax (though it might have been rice paste) used as the resist.

Delicate, hand-painted yellow blossoms rise along the sleeves and front panel and call out the bright golden yellow lining.  There is a single crest at the neck embroidered with silver threads. 

The back shows gentle discoloration from age (see last photo) which seems to blend naturally rather than detracting from the overall beauty.

The coordinating belt shown is included, making this a ready-to-wear vintage piece that blends classic Japanese design with modern, everyday comfort.
