This listing is for a full bolt of traditional Japanese fabric intended to be made into a hakata style casual obi sash.  This style is sometimes sold in half-width (called a hanhaba hakata obi) and is popular for men and women to wear with a casual kimono or yukata.

Striking and rhythmically patterned, this vintage hakata style obi bolt showcases clean geometric bands woven in silvery white across a warm red background. The firm, ribbed weave is a hallmark of hakata textiles, historically valued for their strength and subtle luster. Orderly repetition and refined contrast!

The fabric is a thick weave that is both pliable and sturdy – perfect for being tied into a bow at the back of a kimono, and just a perfect as table or wall décor. Plenty of fabric to convert into home décor (pillows!) or an elegant jacket or coat…?
