A fascinating blend of geometry and precision, this vintage Japanese katagami stencil features four scattered incense-inspired patterns against a delicate field of tiny, pierced dots. Each rectangular motif contains an angular, traditional Genji incense symbol, while the surrounding stippled background creates a soft, textured contrast. The combination of structured lines and intricate dot work gives this piece a striking balance of tradition and modern geometric style.

This stencil measures 17.5 x 10.5 inches and shows signs of age and use, including blue dye residue, surface discoloration, creasing, and minor edge wear.

These stencils are still usable but would need a gentle touch and to be moistened before use.  Nowadays, more durable plastic versions are used.
