This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori jacket that would have been worn on top of a vintage kimono on a chilly day.  Black haori like this are sometimes called "visiting haori" since they were worn for semi-formal occasions, like attending a community gathering.

Let your style take flight with this shimmering haori that showcases butterflies gliding across soft golden clouds. Hand-applied yuzen work gives each wing a crisp, painterly outline while gold leaf accenting adds a warm glow that moves with the fabric. The bold red, light blue, and citrus gold tones feel playful and elegant at the same time. The single paulownia crest below the neck adds a refined touch of family heritage.

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath.
