This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori jacket that would have been worn on top of a vintage kimono on a chilly day.  Black haori like this are sometimes called "visiting haori" since they were worn for semi-formal occasions, like attending a community gathering.

Let this haori jacket surprise you as its quiet black exterior transforms into a luminous world of woven detail. Cloud shaped outline parts to reveal an ornate pavilion scene, built from shimmering metallic gold, turquoise, and red lacquered urushi threads that capture every beam of light. Chrysanthemums, patterned screens, and architectural ornaments appear almost carved into the textile, showcasing impressive craftsmanship and depth. Look closely to see the red stitched crest resting above the design like a signature, adding a refined finishing touch. Elegant on the body and mesmerizing on display.

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath.
