This listing is for a vintage Japanese folding fan (sensu in Japanese). See videos below on how the paper version of these fans are made - it's quite an elaborate and precise process. 

Bold orange-red paper and metallic gold panels give this folding fan a strong graphic look, centered around a stylized boar motif rendered in an angular, origami-like design. The boar is one of the animals of the Japanese zodiac and is associated with courage, determination, and good fortune, making this piece feel especially tied to New Year celebrations and seasonal symbolism.

There are signs of age, with a slight discoloration on the orange area, see last photo.
