This listing is for a traditional Japanese hair ornament called kanzashi.  Kanzashi is a generic term for a wide variety of these accessories - including long, rigid hairpins, barrettes, fabric flowers, combs and fabric hair ties - which are worn in traditional Japanese hairstyles.  Click here to learn more about the many forms of kanzashi.

This kanzashi is a stick-style hair piece made in celluloid (popular after WWII). Thie central piece is long and squared, but slightly wider on the ends. The stick would be inserted through a hair do and the two floral elements would be pushed toward each other to hold the kanzashi in place.  Note the tiny springs that give just enough tension, so the florals don't slide off the ends. The florals also have pearl and red bead embellishments.

These is a traditional accessory that can be worn with or without the kimono, adding a unique touch to any updo, bun or twist. See the video below for a stunning collection of antique and vintage kanzashi.
