This listing is for one yard of reclaimed vintage Japanese fabric salvaged from a kimono or haori.

This kimono fabric comes from a semi-formal kimono jacket, likely designed for Spring or Summer wear. Purple "fog" patterns filled with tiny faux shibori dots float in from the side and dotted around are partial blossoms in blue, green, gold, red and purple. The silk itself has a floral jacquard pattern and is a very very light minty blue/green color.

Some blemishes along the edges (see last photo) on some pieces.

The standard width of all kimono fabric is between 13" and 14" and each length offered here is at least 36" - some are more generous cuts. Multiple pieces may be available.

When we find vintage (circa 1950s but could be older or newer by two decades) Japanese kimono or haori in less-than-sellable condition, we salvage what we can and offer it to artisans, quilters, crafters, and designers for project work. So the fabric has been previously sewn and though we carefully deconstruct the kimono, previous seam lines, as well as minor blemishes, may need to be worked around or trimmed away.

The inspiring designs, hand work, and the ageless beauty of vintage Japanese textiles make all the extra work so worthwhile.
