This listing is for a vintage Japanese folding fan (sensu in Japanese). See videos below on how the paper version of these fans are made - it's quite an elaborate and precise process. 

Bold and beautifully minimal, this vivid crimson fan lets its saturated color and refined craftsmanship take center stage. One side shows delicate gold calligraphy reading “Kotobuki” (longevity/congratulations), while the reverse features the large character “Fuku” (good fortune), making this a quietly symbolic piece associated with celebration, happiness, and auspicious wishes.
