This listing is a vintage Japanese folding fan (sensu in Japanese). See videos below on how the paper version of these fans are made - it's quite an elaborate and precise process.

This fan features a set of three painted persimmons (kaki in Japanese) growing from a leafy branch. Subtle gray brushstrokes in the background seem to anchor the design.

Nice carved bamboo spokes.  Katakana characters that say o-me-pu-ra-ru, which is the Japanese pronunciation of a foreign word, but we cannot figure out what it means.

Comes in its original box..
