This listing is for a vintage Japanese furoshiki - a very handy, sturdy, multi-use wrapping cloth used in Japan.

This vintage furoshiki has a bold presence that instantly elevates any gift or display with its deep blue color and dynamic white calligraphic kanji that translates to congratulations or good fortune. The cloth is a nubby silk that drapes beautifully making it perfect for wrapping boxes, bottles, or decor pieces.

34.5" x 36.5"

Artistic furoshiki (often silk) are traditionally used as gift wrap but also make creative wall or table displays. Furoshiki in solid colors or with printed patterns (often cotton or rayon) are more casual versions used for shopping, transporting goods, or storing items at home. These days furoshiki are popular as upcycled grocery totes or to carry whatever we used to carry in a non-recyclable plastic bag.
