This listing is for a traditional underkimono (juban in Japanese) designed to be worn beneath a woman's kimono. Underkimono make great robes because they are shorter than over-kimono, so they don't have the extra length that is folded over to pad the waist.

To celebrate the 2025 Holiday Collection and the season of giving, the simple cotton sash you see pictured with this kimono will be included!  

Vibrant and full of vintage charm, this women's underkimono showcases a large lattice grid pattern filled with stylized roses, each one formed from hundreds of tiny, stenciled dots that mimic the traditional kanoko (fawn spot) shibori pattern. The bright red field creates a festive feeling that fits beautifully into a holiday themed collection, while the subtle pattern work adds softness and depth. 

This kimono is showing signs of age from decades of wear and storage, which only enhance its character and sense of history. See last photos to see the holes and blemishing on the collar. (Traditionally, an over-collar would be sewn on top of the blemished cotton undercollar.  If you can sew, we can include one if you request it when you order.)
