This listing is for an underkimono - called a "juban" in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Remember, layering is quite important in kimono-wearing. Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner, but they are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just in inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This juban features a printed pattern that includes Daikokuten, the deity of wealth, sitting atop a rice bale. Other imagery includes kanji calligraphy, coins and a "magic mallet".

The background color is a dark pine green.  The over-collar is blue and the juban is unlined. The fabric is a lightweight wool - not scratchy at all.

Included is a vintage belt that would typically be used to close an underkimono and might even be appropriate for a casual overkimono.  If you'd prefer a wider sash in a different color, we offer cotton sashes (see "Add A Sash" option) that you can add to your order. Juban make great robes and cover ups.

If you plan to display this kimono, we do offer wooden hanging rods - see Add a Display Rod? on the right.
