This listing is for a full bolt of unused vintage Japanese fabric intended to be made into a kimono but never was.  The bolt is tacked shut, as is typical for an uncut, unused bolt, and we have not opened it up to measure it exactly. We cannot discern its original purpose, but it will have at least nine yards (for a haori jacket) but more likely eleven, which would be needed for a full kimono.

The colors combination is the first thing you notice - a deep, rich chocolate brown behind the huge orange and red crests.  The silk itself has a lightening jacquard, and the weight and feel of the silk is nothing less than elegant.

The pattern includes four different crests, possibly representing each season - bamboo, pine, plum and wisteria.  These large crests alternate in color. And each is detailed with a stroke of gold or silver that creates a shadow or dimensional effect. 

Really a gorgeous bolt of silk.
