This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori (kimono jacket) that we modified slightly to allow for a roomier fit on larger frames.

This Oki Haori features an abstract floral pattern in blues with a touch of pink. And behind the florals is the tell-tale crackle of the batik process. This process is called rozome (or roketsuzome) in Japanese.

Nice medium weight silk with a nice drape. Silk lining. CLICK HERE to read a short article about roketsuzome that I wrote a long time ago.

In our Oki Haori Line (oki means "big" in Japanese) of modified haori jackets, we open up the gusset and underarm seams and then re-attached them using every inch of the salvage seam edges. (See photo for detail.) This yields up to an additional 6" of width in the waist, hip, and bust measurements.

Whereas unmodified haori tend to be more narrow at the bust because the side gussets gradually narrow from waist to bust, our Oki Haori do not taper at the bust, which gives you more coverage in front. Compare your measurements to those given, keeping in mind that the measurements we give are the haori measurements, not a recommendation for the wearer's measurements.
