This listing is for a vintage Japanese maru-style obi but in a hanhaba (half width) version. Like their wider cousins, "half width obi" are easier to wear and tie but still give the formality and elegance of a formal design. (See video below to learn more about the different types of obi.)

This obi features a shade of deep orange that is traditional in obi from the 1950s or earlier. It has a heavy weave except for the odd unpatterned section at the end, which we assume is there to make wearing or tieing it easier.

The patterning features stylized flowers and leaves, some with recognizable florals and others quite abstract.

10.5' long and 5" wide. Excellent vintage condition.

Maru obi are usually the most expensive version of an obi since they are patterned on both sides - even though one side will never be seen by the public.
